Restricting Who Your Kids Are Allowed to Be...
Not much of a story, but I do have something to say about my experience as someone who's trans and was raised in the Seventh-day Adventist church.
For me, being in a conservative Adventist family made it take far longer for me to realize that I was trans.
Had I not escaped when I did, I'd likely still be struggling and trying to find who I was. I think I'd have figured it out eventually, but I don't know for sure.
While in the church, I never allowed myself to explore my own feelings, as those feelings were 'sinful' or otherwise bad. If I'd only been allowed to freely explore who I was, my childhood and teenage years would've gone much smoother.
I wondered for years why I was different, why I was the way I was. Now I know, but I could've known a lot sooner.
Restricting who your kids are allowed to be doesn't keep them from being LGBTQ, it just makes their lives hell and will leave them lost until they can figure it out for themselves.
